CALHOUN COURTHOUSE
The original Calhoun County Courthouse structure was a turn of the century masonry structure of 9,500 square feet on two levels without handicapped access to the upper floor courtroom or proper means of egress from the upper level. The structure had its original electrical and plumbing systems, and the building was heated with propane gas space heaters and cooled with window units. Our firm added a new wing of 6,000 square feet on three levels to provide handicap access to all levels, protected egress, public restrooms, additional office and meeting areas as well as storage and protected archive space. The structure was renovated to return to its original appearance with restoration of the original colors on the interior and exterior as well as modernization of each office to accommodate current technology. New plumbing, electrical and data systems were installed, and the entire new structure is now centrally heated and cooled.
