DINING HALL

With the goal of creating a neighborhood walk-up oriented dining center, EMO/ARCHITECTS, INC. was selected to provide the architectural and interior design services for this 18,000 SF dining facility on the Florida State University campus. The scope of work included design coordination with food service consultants for full service kitchen, food preparation and dining areas.  The facility has an open in-the-round kitchen and dining area that seats 360. It also features a hardwired and wireless system with a comfortable seating areas that creates a student internet café atmosphere. The project budget was $4,300,000, and included coordination of sitework with exterior dining areas using mature trees of the site to create a canopy effect, as well as coordination of off-site infrastructure work. The building was designed with a shared service courtyard and loading dock to allow for 18-wheel trucks and 42-foot refrigerated truck deliveries. This courtyard houses trash compactors, which are concealed from the Call Street pedestrian walkways by a brick screen wall. The project received the NACUFS (National Association of College & University Food Services Grand Prize Gold Award.
