CAMPUS MASTER PLAN

This three-time award-winning Campus Master Plan consisted of a comprehensive, 25-year master plan of the Tallahassee Community College campus. The plan employs a harmonious blend of form and function by adhering to sustainable, urban and interactive architectural design principles including integrating environmental systems with the campus’s existing spatial system, optimizing land resources while maintaining the campus scale of development, maximizing pedestrian access for an improved walking campus, creating a lively environment for social and academic interaction, extending and enhancing the garden landscape that characterizes the unique environmental qualities of the existing campus and creating a sustainable master plan that follows USGBC LEED design guidelines. Situated on a flat former airport site, the college faces significant site issues, including periodic flooding. This master plan seeks a new approach that conceives the future campus as an integral, sustainable part of the eco-management system while being a vibrant place for learning, interaction, recreation, nature and delight. At the heart of the Campus Master Plan is the idea of a campus organized around a simple framework of pedestrian open-space axes, integrated with an innovative storm water system that serves as an eco-amenity
